Shakti Abhiyan aims to create a pipeline of grassroots women political leaders by building women-centric politics around the idea of Haq & Hissedari (equal rights and ownership).

Women-centric politics is a pathway to equal rights and ownership. This approach will create equal space for women’s ‘interests’ in politics and decision making, through the representation ‘of women by women’ at all levels of governance - local bodies, Legislative assemblies, and parliament.

A Shakti Club or Shakti Sangathan is an activity center for women, especially the most vulnerable sections, to organize Shakti Abhiyan in villages, bastis, and campuses around the idea of Haq & Hissedari (Rights & Ownership).

Shakti Clubs will work with the women community mainly in three areas: Raising Awareness (education, employment, and health), Community Building and Sisterhood, and Nation Building.

Shakti Clubs will be organised at the grassroots by Indira Fellows. The Shakti Club is specifically designed for women who may or may not be affiliated with any political party but aspire to pursue political career.

A Shakti Club will have a President, Vice Presidents, General Secretaries, and a Social Media Coordinator.

 The President of a Shakti Club can be any woman with an interest in politics and political engagements and ideologically aligns with the Congress Party.

The Shakti Club is specifically designed for women who may or may not be affiliated with any political party but aspire to pursue politics.

Women of any age group with a passion for politics and political engagement can join Shakti Abhiyan.

Minimum duration of Shakti Abhiyan is 3-6 months. Shakti Club and Shakti Abhiyan may extend beyond the Fellowship duration.

Anyone who aligns with congress ideology can be our supporter. They can be a congress member or not a congress member. You can also get help from your team and the Shakti Network.

Ideally, only one woman from one household is encouraged to be a member of one Shakti Club.
